The Isle of Man Swim Team won the opening round of the National Arena Swimming League season by 75 points in Ellesmere Port on Saturday 10 October, Energy FM reported.
The 38-strong squad, competing in North West Division Two, built an 11-point lead within the first 10 events. It held a commanding advantage for much of the meeting and finished with 263 points from 51 swims.
Swim Conwy took second place, 75 points behind the Manx team. Knutsford were third, a further two points back.
The meeting was the first of four rounds. The series ends at the National Finals Day in Sandwell next March.
The same weekend brought further recognition for two of the island’s coaches. Energy FM reported that both have been selected to coach on the Swim England Diploma in Sporting Excellence programme for the next two years.
Lee Holland, the team’s head coach, has taken on the head coach role within the scheme. Silla Parnell has joined as a group coach. Both were at the programme’s launch in Loughborough on Sunday 11 October.
