Manx ABC's Alisha Craine books national semi-final place in Kettering

The northwest regional champion forced a standing count on Yorkshire champion Leah Proctor to reach the last four of the national development championships.

Manx Amateur Boxing Club’s Alisha Craine will box in the semi-finals of the national development championships in Kettering on Saturday 17 October after beating Yorkshire champion Leah Proctor in the quarter-finals, Isle of Man Today reported.

The bout took place at Bridlington Sports Centre last weekend. It came a week after Craine won the northwest regional title.

According to Isle of Man Today, Craine started steadily in the first round and increased the pressure in the second. In the third, she kept up a run of attacks that ended with the referee giving Proctor a standing count.

The win puts Craine among the final four female boxers in the competition in England. If she wins in Kettering on Saturday, she will go through to the national final on Sunday 18 October.

Isle of Man Today said seven female boxers are now registered with Manx ABC. It described Craine’s run as a sign of the club’s growing strength in women’s boxing.
