A Douglas councillor is asking colleagues to support a new fund for community events, projects and initiatives in the capital, with ideas brought forward by residents through a petition process.
Natalie Byron-Teare’s motion was due before Douglas City Council at its monthly meeting on Wednesday (14 October), according to 3FM.
She proposes a dedicated community petition route through which residents, local groups and businesses could put their plans forward for a share of the fund, the station reported.
Hers is one of three members’ motions on the agenda alongside the council’s usual business. Council leader Devon Watson is due to ask for an independent review of the authority’s governance, and for a scheme to provide more allotments in Douglas, 3FM said.
Douglas City Council is the island’s largest local authority. Councillors were due to meet from 14:30 at City Hall on Ridgeway Street.
