Claire Christian has said she would be “honoured” to continue as Minister for Health and Social Care when the new Chief Minister names his Council of Ministers.

The Douglas South MHK, who was appointed to the role in 2024, told Manx Radio she wants to remain in charge of the Department of Health and Social Care. According to the broadcaster, she has been open about that wish since being re-elected at September’s General Election.

Manx Radio reported her comments on 14 October, the day after Douglas Central MHK Chris Thomas was elected Chief Minister. Mr Thomas has said he will announce his Council of Ministers, the island’s cabinet, within days.

Ms Christian told the broadcaster she recognises that change is in the air as the new administration takes shape.
